The BCPC bids a fond farewell to Sheila Kung

Sheila Kung was born in Canton, China but moved to Hong Kong when she was two years old. In 1968, Sheila and her family immigrated to Canada. From the time she came to Canada, she began her extensive community Work.

In 1985, Sheila and Michael got married. As her children grew up, Sheila was always an active member in their lives. She volunteered for the school they attended and participated in all aspects of their lives.

This is what brought her into the Air Cadet Program. In 1999, Sheila became actively involved with the Squadron Sponsoring Committee at 135 Bell-Irving Squadron because of her two sons. In the first year, she served as a fundraising organizer and began initiatives to financially aid a growing squadron. In her subsequent years from 2000 onwards to 2009, she served as the secretary, director at large, special event coordinator and vice-chair.

In September 2009, Sheila accepted the offer to join in with the BC Provincial Committee as a Member at large.

In September 2011, Sheila accepted the position as the Greater Vancouver Wing Chair for the BC Provincial Committee.

At the 2012 BCPC AGM, she was presented with the BCPC Certificate of Merit in recognition of her Outstanding Service to the Air Cadet League of Canada and the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. In October 2014 BCPC AGM, she was awarded the BCPC Certificate of Honor, and in 2023 was awarded the President’s Award.

On behalf of all of the BC Provincial Committee Board of Directors and League members, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours! We know that any organization you are a part of will only benefit from your knowledge as a dedicated Volunteer.

A fond farewell to an extremely dedicated and valued Volunteer to the Air Cadet Program in British Columbia.
