Mrs. Linda Leibel has been associated with the Air Cadet program in BC since 2003. Linda’s career in the Financial Industry resulted in her family being transferred to Penticton BC and being involved in the community was very important to her. Her then, 14-year-old son had expressed an interest in becoming a pilot and joining Air Cadets was the opportunity of a lifetime. In 2010, along with her son, Linda joined the 259 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. She served with the Sponsoring Committee as the Secretary and then in 2011 becoming the SSC Chairperson.
During the three years she served as the Chairperson of the 259 Panther Squadron SSC, Linda enjoyed the full support of the Officers, Cadets and the Parents. This led to the Penticton SSC being awarded Top SSC status twice during her tenure as the Chairperson. The Leibel family is very proud of their son, who aged out of the program, obtaining his dream by becoming a Power Pilot in Comox.
Linda stepped down as SSC Chairperson in 2014, however, seeing the benefit of the Air Cadet Program and being a witness to the excellent youth program that the Royal Canadian Air Cadets provided, she continued to give back to the Air cadet program by becoming a BCPC League Representative for the 259 Squadron.
In October 2015, Linda was offered a new position with the BCPC Air Cadet League, Chairperson for the South Okanagan Wing, to which she was pleased and honoured to accept and is currently active in this role.
In 2022, Linda, along with her husband William, made the decision to move to Alberta to be closer to family. She did continue her position as South Okanagan Wing Chair from a distance and virtually, but has now decided it is time to resign fully.
