TO: ALL BCPC SQUADRON SPONSORING COMMITTEES
AND BCPC MEMBERS
FROM: AIR CADET LEAGUE OF CANADA,
BRITISH COLUMBIA PROVINCIAL COMMITTEE
As you are aware, the threats of the spread and potential health impacts of the recent COVID-19 virus outbreak to our country has necessitated an immediate and extensive response from our Military partners regarding the operations of the Canadian Cadet Organization (CCO).
As a preventative measure to protect all Cadets, the Commander of the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger Support Group has declared a complete stand down of all cadet operations including LHQ operations for a minimum of three-week duration. This stand down will be effective immediately and will be all-inclusive.
This means that there will be no activities, meetings or training of any kind taking place during this time frame. Orders from Formation and the various RCSU’s will be passed down through the unit Commanding Officers for furtherance to the cadets. As partners in the Canadian Cadet Movement (CCM), it is our duty as members of the Air Cadet League of Canada to do all we can to help mitigate any potential spread of this virus and to that end it is the British Columbia Provincial Committee’s wish that all SSC activities including meetings be suspended until further notice. BCPC is aware that there may be some potential financial implications attached to this stand down but the protection of our cadets is of a much greater concern and importance. Your compliance with this request is greatly appreciated.
Please be assured that the cessation of activities will be minimized as much as possible taking into account the health and welfare of all individuals concerned with the Canadian Cadet Movement. This is a new and difficult experience for all of us and we are having to adapt as we proceed.
Thank you for all that you do on behalf of the Canadian Cadet Movement in general and for your individual Squadrons in particular. We would not exist without your participation.
Respectfully,
Don Doern CD
President
British Columbia Committee
