BCPC portrait of Gurdit Nagi

Please join the BC Provincial Committee in welcoming Gurdit Nagi as our newest League Member.

Gurdit was born and raised in Singapore. After completing his tertiary education, he was enlisted in the Singapore Armed Forces to do his mandatory National Service (military service) for the country and he did his infantry training there and was also privileged to serve in the Republic of Singapore Air Force during his full-time two and a half years’ compulsory service term. In his secondary school, he had the opportunity to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC). It was a valuable four years Cadet program that helped him prepare for his military service later.

Soon after completing his National Service, he started his own trading and transportation business for five years before immigrating to Canada in 1993. Gurdit met his wife Jersica here in Canada, got married in 2003 and they have two sons, Prabhjit and Jagvir both of whom joined the Air Cadets with 278 Cormorant Squadron. Prabjit, his elder son, has aged out from the cadet program in October 2023. Jagvir has another year to go till September 2025.

Gurdit together with Jersica first became involved with Air Cadet program in 2017, when their son Prabhjit decided to join 278 Cormorant Squadron when it was still under 819 Skyhawk Squadron as a satellite squadron.

Gurdit was a founding member and Director of 278 Cormorant Squadron when they received their Charter in 2018. Gurdit has served two years as Vice Chairperson and three years as Chairperson in the Squadron’s Sponsoring Committee. Jersica has also been part of the Squadron’s Sponsoring Committee as a Treasurer and as a Director. Together they have submitted the Squadron Sponsoring Committee’s application for Charitable Status and were successful in obtaining it for 278 Cormorant Squadron in February 2024.

In May 2024, Gurdit was invited to join the BC Provincial Committee of the Air Cadet League. He feels honoured and is looking forward to his new role and duties.

Congratulations – we all look forward to working with you!
