Born in Prince Rupert, Jennifer has lived in Vancouver, North Delta, Oakville and Burlington, Ontario and now resides in Abbotsford BC, where she and her husband, Phillip, have lived for the past 24 years and raised two children Malcolm and Aimee Marie, both of whom graduated from the cadet program and are soon to be graduating from university.
Jennifer spent 14 years as a Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopaedics, Neurology and General Surgery. Prior to having children, Jennifer returned to school and graduated from Sheridan College in the Interior Design Program where she then owned her own commercial and residential Interior Design business in Ontario.
While raising her family, Jennifer kept her hand in design but found volunteering was a very important part of connecting with her community. When her son became a cadet in 2008, Jennifer realized the incredible value of the program and became fully involved in the 861 RCACS Sponsoring Committee where she served as a Director and Chairperson for 8 years. Jennifer serves the Air cadet league now as the Interior Group Chair covering the Fraser Valley, Kootenays, Thompson – Okanagan and the Northern regions.
Jennifer is the recipient of the Commendation Award for obtaining high profile public relations for the 861 Silverfox RCACS from the Pacific Region Support Unit Commander, Commander Stan Bates and the Certificate of Merit awarded by the Air Cadet League of Canada in recognition of outstanding service.
Currently, Jennifer is the Executive Director at the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association where she works full time with a Board of Directors to support and assist in the revitalization of the downtown core. In this role, she serves on the Abbotsford Economic Development Committee, the Abbotsford Tourism Community Advisory Board, and the Salvation Army Community Council. Jennifer highly values time with her family and in the summer is found at their East Barriere Lake property where everyone enjoys downtime away from their busy schedules.
As a result of Jennifer’s very busy life with work and family, she has made the hard decision to retire from the BC Air Cadet League in her position as Director and many other portfolios she managed.
On behalf of all of the BC Provincial Committee Board of Directors and League members, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours! We know that any organization you are a part of will only benefit from your knowledge and patience as a valued educator and Volunteer.
A fond farewell to a dedicated and valued Volunteer to the Air Cadet Program.
